With macro that is! I got a new fancy Sigma 50mm Macro over the holidays and have been slow to get around to testing it out. Can't wait to keep exploring to see what is possible but so far I am a big fan! One of my first forays into macro so go easy

Suspect this is the Nikon aperture thing again- Nikon bodies report effective aperture which at 1:1 are twice the set aperture Canon bodies report. You will get good DOF at this aperture but also get quite a lot of diffraction softening of the image. Try shooting around F25 reported on your camera at 1:1 for perhaps a better balance of DOF and sharpness.
