I got this shot while walking along a trail near the American River in Sacramento CA this weekend. He watched me like a hawk. (now I know where that saying comes from) :wink

If anyone can tell me what type of hawk this is I would appreciate it.

Nice capture of the Red Shoulder Hawk. Too bad with all the branches, but as I have said in the past, you get what you can at the time.

Is that the Red Shoulder Hawk that hangs around the southwest side of Sunrise bridge? I almost always see one on the wire there.

Thanks Chris. This was taken about one mile West or downstream from the sunrise bridge. I park near Bannister park (free parking) and walk down to the river. Thanks for looking.

The red shoulder hawks are a good looking bird. Make a lot of noise also. THere are plenty of these down in Florida. They keep our morning dove population in check. Thanks for sharing.
