I haven't posted anything in forever. I've been taking pictures of a local high school boys team that won state in their division last year and is ranked #2 in California this year (#1 in their division). Super fun. I'm liking getting to sit inside to take pictures...

so a couple pix from basketball last week.

Hey, Just starting into the sports photography field and was wondering if using a f/2.8 lense is a must? I have tried some of the 3.5s with limited success.

It just depends on your body and other gear. With strobes, I was shootng at 4 this weekend. Without strobes, and with a body that can't handle high ISOs, I think 2.8 is pretty necessary.

    Hi,
I use an 85mm 1.8 lens with no flash for basketball and in some gyms I have to go to f2.2 to get a decent shutter speed even with an ISO of 4000. 2.8 makes taking pictures in the dark (no flash) more fun.
