I shoot RAW .. so no camera tweaking. I don't touch saturation ... just some sharpening, a bit of contrast, some levels or curves and some dodging/burning is it.

No, more like a lab coat ... this was a semi industrial area of LA, men in skirts are in West Hollywood. You must be great at "Where's Waldo?".

That guy was really nice of you to let him take his photo. Most men wouldn't allow something like that ... when it looks like - what it looks like :D

Can't find Waldo here .. unless he's right in front of me :D

Neat place .. we don't see anything like this in ND. Can you give more details about this photo?

This is Olvera Street, the first street in the "Town of the Queen of Angels". I found this written by the first Europeans setting foot in the Los Angeles basin:

"Thursday, 3, 1769. At half past six, we left the camp and forded the Porciuncula River, which runs down from the valley, flowing through it from the mountains to the plain. After crossing the river we entered a large vineyard of wild grapes and an infinity of rosebushes in full bloom. All the soil is black and loamy, and is capable of producing every kind of grain and fruit which may be planted. We went west, continually over good land well covered with grass. After traveling about half a league we came to the village of this region, the people of which, on seeing us, came out to the road."

In 1781 a group of settlers left the Mission San Gabriel Arcangel and established Los Angeles some nine miles to the southwest. The City has preserved Olvera Street for it's historical values.

Thank you for the information. I found it very interesting. Nice to know how places are started and those that came upon a new place. CA is a very beautiful place :D

Well Not that particular man ...

It's an altar, the fruits and incense are offerings to the God(s). Kinda like a Feng Shui thing ... many Asian businesses will have these altars to promote a good business climate.

My mechanic, (born in the year of the filthy Pig), also has one in his lounge ...

I thought it could be an alter of some sort, but wasn't sure. Nope .. haven't seen that in the streets of ND.

Wish I had the opportunity to photography all the intersting things you get to see.

My husband thanks you .. he now knows what sign he was born under rolleyes1.gif
