Buy Link?

I could swear I saw a post here yesterday with instructions forinserting a buy-link, but I can't seem to find it.

I want to insert the buy link into the code that I use for inserting an image into Blogster blog.

This is the code:

<img src="" alt="">
</a>
</center>

Where do I insert the buy-link? When I put it in the place of the IMAGE URL, it doesn't work.

Well, for some reason I am not able to paste in the code. What you see is not what I'm pasting.

Where are you trying to insert it? Simply copy the buy link from the share>get a link tool
paste into your blog or other web page.

I have a special way I insert photos into my blog that sets up the photo so when you click on it, it links directly back to its original Smug gallery.

When I simply paste the link into my blog, it just shows up as the URL.

Okay, so it refuses to be pasted. Why is that? I copied it from here, so someone must have been able to type it in.

The <a href= part of the HTML is the link back to your smug galleries. The <img src= identifies the photo that is to be displayed.

To have the click on the photo take the viewer to buy the image, you would place it in the <a href= statement.

So

<[B]a[/B] href="... insert buy link here...">
<[B]img[/B] src="... insert link to jpg image here...">
</[B]a[/B]>

However, that complicates my life somewhat, as I had developed a streamlined process of inserting many images into my blog.

First, I insert the code; then I insert the gallery location (following <a href) and the description (following alt=), leaving the image location (<img src

blank.

Then I copy and paste this template as many times as needed into the body of my blog and go back and forth between the blog and my gallery, grabbing whatever links I wanted. Bing, bang, boom. Streamlined, easy.

Inserting a separate buy-link and img src link for each image is going to be a pain, I think. I'll give it a try in my next post.

okay, this is probably going to be incoherent, because every time I type a bit of code, the message gets all screwed up.

Here's an attempt, using English: I create a code template that includes the gallery location and the description (following alt..etc), and leave the specific img src blank. I copy and paste as many of these as I need, then all I have to do is grab the link for each image, right down the line. It's very easy, and so much easier than blogger's upload utility. ugh.

anyway, I would love to add the buy-link, but it seems cumbersome in the case of many images.

I also insert my own links in my blog because using blogger's method doesn't link to my smug site.

Unfortunately the method you are using puts the same url in all of the <a href= statements. That means when the viewer clicks the photo they are taken to the gallery but not to the photo that you are showing with the <img src= statement. If you want the click into the page to be right in either case than the url for the <a href= statement needs to be specific for the photo. So to do it nicely requires that you copy two URLs for each photo anyway.

If the words don't help, go to my blog and click a couple of the photos. You will be taken to that specific photo in my smug site. Then compare the behavior with clicking on a photo in your blog.

See my notes in the post Adding photos to your blog. Based on this conversation I think I should update that post to include a reference to using the buy link. I'll try to do that later tonight.

This turns out to be not as big a pain as I thought it would be.

When inserting many photos into my blog, I first insert the code, then type the name I want to be associated with the image after alt=. Then I copy and paste this as many times as I need. After that, it's a simple matter of pasting both the buy link and src code into each block of code, going back and forth from my Smug site to Blogger. Very easy, since buy and src are right next to each other.

Thanks for the help, it's working great - love it.

however, I see that a couple of my links are not working in my most recent posting, which sometimes happens if I go back in and start messing with the text adjoining an image.

Hi, Andy. I went in and fixed it. For some reason, if I start messing with the text that is near the photo, sometimes the code gets fouled up and the links don't work.

I don't completely understand how to get the spacing I want, and a few other details about Blogger, but it all works now.

The Edgartown News link in my siggie will take you to the posting to which I was referring.
