Normally this kind of tragedy does not happen in our household.

I'd love to see a macro of that. It looks like desert sandstone. Beautiful, if not for the precious material waiting below the surface...

it's just the cork broken off inside the bottle, isn't it?

yeah it is, but the cork is so dry and crumbly it's going to be in pieces inside the bottle if it's messed with. so we'll toss it, but I thought I'd shoot it first.
If I can get my cranky old legacy macro to cooperate, I can get in closer.

You can't just toss it! :D

Store the bottle on its side for a couple of days. It may not be too late to salvage..

    I love the textures..

Good god that is sad... All else fails, push it in and strain it with cheese cloth. Then again I might be a little over the top when it comes to saving things like this.

thanks guys. Not sure we care enough to salvage it. There's a reason I found the bottle in an impossible to get to cabinet over the fridge. Couldn't let it go without shooting it though after the cork broke.

I still want to see a macro shot of it, if you get the chance.
