Batch format conversion that does not change capture time

This one seems to be a simple idea but I have not been able to find a solution yet. I am wanting to use Lightroom to manage my screen captures on my Mac. I am using the built in screen capture tool that outputs PNG files. However Lightroom doesn't handle PNG files. I can use Fireworks to batch convert the images to JPG but the "capture time" is lost and becomes the time when I run the conversion.

Is there a tool for Mac, or Windows as I can run it virtualized, that will keep the capture time correct? Would prefer inexpensive as this task is avocational.

Open a terminal window and type the following two commands in order.

    defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg
    killall SystemUIServer

After that, your screen captures will be saved in jpg format by default.
