Experience with 3rd party grips

I have a Canon 5dm2 and don't mind spending the cash if it makes sense but hate to spend it just for a name.

I want a grip with controls and have seen several 3rd party brands for a lot less than the Canon brand. Any experiences good or bad?

I bought a flashpoint (Adorama) grip for my 7d, and it has been great for the most part... the rubber part started to come off after about 6months, but nothing a little super glue couldn't fix... for 85.00 vs 200.00 I didn't mind too much...

I've been using an Opteka grip for my rebel XT for many years. It's built solid and does not conflict with the angles of the camera body. The controls have never failed and I have tons of confidence using it; I hardly ever shoot without it actually. The batteries that came with it had great life originally, but over time have weakened noticeably.

Found mine on eBay for way, waaaay less than a proper canon grip.

I wouldn't buy one, as I have seen photos online of ones that have burned up, ruining the camera! Using a Opteka and Flashpoint brand grip on your camera is a dangerous game, especially when you are using it on 5d (a 5d is not cheap)! If you use a third party grip, and it breaks your camera, you are SOL, the Canon warranty wont cover any issues causes by a third party grip or third party battery. In my opinion, it is worth the extra price to use only a Canon grip and battery, as then the Canon warranty will apply!
