A Fly at rest....

I can never get a clear answer on this - but I have to ask. What is the best lens and how exactly do I get this type of magnification? I'm using Nikon equipment.

When you say "a stack of tubes", what does that mean? I need someone to literally walk me through this. I have never once attempted macro.

tubes are hollow rings , placed between body and lens , therefor making the lens longer , thus more close-up

there is no glass inside , so therefor they are cheap
one set usually comes in thickness of 12 , 20 and 36 mm , so you can choose desired length
if you want to buy ; make sure they are meant for your camera [ electric contacts ]
