Shot this lizard at Muang Boran / Ancient City near Bangkok.
While I would have liked to use my 100 mm lens for this I was carrying only the 18-55 f/3.5-5.6

Exposure 0.008 sec (1/125)

These are pretty nice images. Little bit shallow on the depth of field for me. F/5.6 (wide open I assume) really cuts down the DOF , even with a wider angle lens. Stopping down would have given a bit more depth of field. Some may like only having the face in focus, but I'd prefer a bit more of the lizard. Bokeh for the BG is fine..just feel the depth of field was a tad narrow. You might have had to increase ISO to permit stopping down a bit in the (what appears to be ) lower light situation.

    Keep 'em coming.

    Cool shot! thumb.gif

ISO 200 and f/8 might have been my choice.

    Beautiful lizard!

I do agree that stopping down to get better DoF would've improved these.

I should have tried stopping down a bit to get the forelimbs into the zone in focus. I was shooting with the pop up flash. My gear could have managed this at ISO 400 F/10 with perhaps a darker background and more saturated colours. Upon looking at it this morning I noticed that the large green leaf at the bottom left is brighter than the lizard itself and draws attention to itself.

Next time I will try and put in a bettter effort.

Thank you everyone for the feedback.

The comp is excellent and the head is sharp. As has already been stated steiing dwon teh aperture would have helped. The BG definitely needs to be cooled off.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
