Wondering if anyone has any opinions of using this card reader vs like a Firewire:

Seem like it's be a great solution for the older MBP's, and it should be just as fast as a firewire reader right?

It might be faster, depending on its design. I have an SSD drive in my 2008 MBP's ExpressCard slot, and man is it fast. I run all of my applications from it, and I keep part of my Aperture library there. It's way way way faster than my HDD.
