Good colours, sharp, well exposed, but I'm afraid the subject doesn't do much for me, sorry :nah

    Hi Steven,
Looks like it was shot in India as the birds like to lie on beds of nails...No?

Seriously, give this a try in B&W. There are some nice shapes and repeating patterns that get lost in the colors; B&W might help bring those out. Pay attention to the wood grain as B&W could really bring out the texture there.

The subject in color doesn't do anything for me either. What is it that appeals to you and bring it out more. If it's the afternoon glow, then it's too busy. If it's the shapes, then there is too much color (for this shot).

    Thanks for sharing,
    Chris

I know this Dukes. Nice place to eat. Good food and a great view of the ocean and pier. As other said, this picture has good technical aspects but doesn't really bring out the subject for what it is.

There aren't right and wrong answers here but you may want to try some shots with the pier or surfers in the background. Or you may want to get a shot with the statue in the foreground.

    nice exposure and colors.

one thing: remember, that smugmug applies some sharpening to your downsized photos, and so for a photo like this, i'll apply very little sharpening in camera or in post, so as to avoid the oversharpened look...

    cheers mate!
