Dronefly hoverfly out in the sun the other day enjoying some sugar/honey spray. All shots have some hand focus stacking.

Thanks for the comments and rescue Phil :)
I've grown to rather like these hovers - not the most handsome but do find their hairy eyes fascinating and they do do a great job of pollinating "Winter" flowers if the sun is out.

I always admire your work Lord V and it's inspired me to give it a go, on the cheap side anyways.
I'm using a 50mm 1.8 and extension tubes until I can justify a better setup.
With the lens you use I understand you have to be very close to the subject for focusing, do you just spray a leaf or 3 with sugar/honey water and wait? and when said insect arrives they don't bother moving due to the ample food supply, or is there more to it than my very simplistic understanding.
cheers in advance for any advice you can give. thumb.gif
    May I take your picture?
