just picked up a TT1 and TT5 for my Canon 5D2 and speedlite 580EX II. So I'm wondering, is there any specific settings I should change in these 2 pieces using the configuration software, or are you guys running them with the default settings. Again, I'm only using the SL580EX II and a 270EX, no other type of lighting at this point.

Thanks
R.

The out of the box settings will work just fine. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed. Some of the earlier versions didn't automatically detect the camera model. The default settings for the tt5 configures it to receive ControlTL signal, which is needed for eTTL to work and the other wizzy mini\flex features to work. Everthing will be setup to use radio channel 1, but as long as no one else is around that won't be a problem.

What happens if someone else is around? What's a good alternate channel?

If someone else is around and they happen to be using channel 1 also, one of you will have to plug one of your mini\flexs into your computer and change the channel. It pretty easy to do, but you do need a pc to do it.

You will only have to reprogram one though, you can use the learn mode to program the other ones.

I have control ChanneLTL set to channel 5 (I think) on mine on the assumption the anyone else I might run into will still be using the default channel 1.

The default setting will set "C1" to channel 1 ~ "C2" to channel 2

So, if someone else around is also using Flex units, you'll just have to change to your other channel. No need to reprogram.

BTW, the AC5 "sock" or AC7 units work. You should use at least the included AC5 for good distance.

I'll throw in a little plug for switching the pre-flash boost off if you are going to be mainly using the units indoors, the extra light from the boost seems to have a tendency to creep into the exposure, if you are outdoors then it's no problem.
