I apologize if this has been covered before. I did a search and did not find ehat I am looking for.

I am looking for an easy way to batch apply a copyright to my images. I am not into photoshop or other editing software as I am usually happy with my initial results from the camera.

Has anyone found a good copyright tool that I can apply to images? I want to keep my originals at home apply a copyright to my online images. If someone want to buy the original witout the copyright mark, they can deal with me directly.

I like the PROOF took on smugmug, but I need something a little less obtrusive to put a mark on the photo edge. Granted it can be cropped out.

    In what operating system?

For any flavor of Unix (including Linux and Mac OSX) you can get a fantastically powerfull set of command line tools called ImageMagick. It is free (GPL). There is a version for Windows, but I don't know if it includes the command stuff so handy for batch jobs.

See the ImageMagick site for more info on these tools.

Also, see here for a tutorial on using ImageMagick for watermarking.

It looks more complicated than it is. Once you get your watermark figured out, the rest is quite easy.

    Cheers,

I've used Exifer to put on a date stamp, you could certainly do a "Copyright....". It took me some experimentation to find the right offsets from the margin and the right font size, but it worked. Tip: start with what might seem like large numbers. I don't remember what I setttled on, but you might try "30" for the font size and both offsets. Be sure to watermark a copy, not your original file.
