    Thank you very much for the comments everyone !!

    The basic workflow on these is: orton-effect>dodge and burn
    done in black and white>duotone tint added>NR software added>
    USM added>save as

    Orton-effect settings (using Nikon Capture NX2) these settings should
    also work in PS


    1-move the midtone slider in (levels) so the photo goes very light, this
    is also a good time to do any healing out of debris

    2-using the (gaussian blur) tool, move the radius slider so the photo goes
    very blurry

    3-go into (blending mode) and select multiply, the photo should go
    darker

    4-move the sliders in (levels) to set the correct exposure

    5-add a tad of USM sharpening to get over the orton-effect
