My new 5D seems to be over exposing shots, compared to my 7D. I adjusted it with some settings in the camera, but still, I'm surprised it's shooting so hot.

Anyway, here's a few pics. Some from the 5D, some from the 7D. It really doesn't matter. Both take great pics. Now, if only the photographer would improve. :D

Anyone remember this horse from last year?

He kicked ass again this year.

Check out the boot flying off.

This horse was wound up.

They couldn't round it up after the ride.

He's hauling ass past me here. I was not ready and just put up the camera to get the shots. I can probably get a little more exposure out of them without screwing them up.

On to the ladies running barrels.

Seriously, he wanted the pics to send to his friends up in Green Bay.

Great day.

    Scott-

Meter's set the same between the 5D and 7D? That's the one thing that could drive it nuts. But other than that they should be consistent across the board. Try setting them both to manual and taking a shot of a fixed subject and see what happens? Just a thought. Although the meters are different because the 7D's is more tightly linked to the new AF system and it's a color based meter. The 5DII is a good old monochrome meter..

Thanks. I'll give this advice a try.

I'm not sure that this would be the case with Cannon, but, sometimes, manufacturers will purposely bias a camera toward either underexposure or overexposure. Such was the case with the Nikon D-80. Apparently, many users complained that the D-70 tended to underexpose. When the D-80 was introduced, it was apparent that Nikon had swung the pendulum too far in the other direction. I'm speaking here about shots exposed with matrix metering. With the D-80, I had to either dial in a stop or stop and 1/3 of underexposure, or, as I chose to do, shoot the camera in center-weighted metering. Both ways worked.

Interestingly, one of the comments coming out of Nikon about the issue was that, given the choice, most people preferred a picture slightly overexposed as to one underexposed. I don't know about that but I think Nikon was trying to BS their way out of a screw-up.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

That wouldnt' surprise me, and I'll take an underexposed pic any day over an overexposed pic.

A great set! Nothing like a great rodeo. You got some awesome shots here - really love the closeup of the white that couldn't be rounded up and that paint is quite a looker. A ton of fantastic shots in here, nicely done!

Rather than start a new thread, I'll dust this one off for the 2013 Gold Rush Days rodeo. I missed 2012, and only spent a short time at the rodeo this year. Here's a few shots.

This shot is not that great, but I thought it was an important lead-in to the one after.
