Hey all, longtime lurker and new poster here.

I couldn't resist this shot on my last trip to New Orleans. One of my personal favorites.

I'd like some critique, especially regarding post processing on this one.

And heres the obligatory street performer shot. I didn't have much time to shoot this one but I think it came out pretty well. The guy sitting down was belting out some great songs while we were walking through the Louisiana State Museum at Jackson Square. We could hear him all the way up on the third floor. Again I'd like some critique on what I might have done better and if/how this one should be cropped.

    Lurk less, post more. :-)
First one - forgive me, but I have to ask why it's one of your favorites.
The second one I'd suggest a square crop, essentially going up the vertical mid-line of the large column on the left as we look at the image, across the bottom as it exists now, then up just to the right of the tourists, and across the top proportionally. As it stands, the space to the left is pretty much wasted, but you have a really nice tourist/street musician image sitting in the center of this.

I agree with BD on a square crop for the second one. I see two processing issues on the first. You have some fairly strong blue fringe on the trees, which you might be able to correct. I think you should also try to open up the shadows on the far balcony so we can see some texture there.

Well you got me there, I don't know if i can put my finger on anything other than the bike. Maybe it's best left as a personal favorite headscratch.gif

And as for the second one, I didn't realize this but I had already cropped it a while back Heres a redo with some more tourists.

Absolutely. So the bottom line here is throw out the crop you'd already done, and stick with the excellent original.

As to the first one - the personal favorite...I'm going to guess that if you come back and look at this in six months you're going to headscratch.gif your head, and wonder why you liked it so much. My guess is it's one of those shots - and we all have them - that said something special to you when you visualized it, but that ultimately fails when captured. But then again...maybe not. But the tourist one is wonderful.clap.gifclap
