Photo and Gallery-moving Confusion

I am trying to reorganize my Smug site.
To this end, in my Family galleries, I want to create sub-categories for various family members.
I have created a new sub-category for my new grandson, called Ethan's First Year with one gallery within, called Ethan, Day Twelve, into which I will be uploading images from yesterday.
I had already created three other galleries Re Ethan, and now I want to move these three galleries into the new sub-category.
How is this done?
When I go to the gallery I want to move >tools>many photos>move to gallery, I get an option for selecting the photos, and then, up above, I am given a list of the names of every gallery in my site from which to select the destination, but I do not see how I can move my original Ethan, Day Four gallery into the new sub-category.
The way I have moved stuff in the past was to 1. create a new gallery; 2. select all from old gallery and move to the newly created gallery; 3. delete the old gallery.
However, I have been told that this has been wrong way to do it, that I have only created a duplicate gallery.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to move three existing Ethan galleries into the new sub-category, Ethan's First Year.
Could someone explain how to do this, please - simply, and step-by-step?
Thank you.

We're sorry for any confusion with categories, subcategories, and galleries.
To move galleries between Categories and Subcategories go to your gallery and click Tools > This Gallery > Gallery Settings.
There you can change the Categories under the green heading Essentials. Make sure you have My Family selected.
Then, you can change Subcategories under the green heading Extras, you'll now see Ethan's First Year.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, we are always happy to help.

Thank you for your straightforward help - very much appreciated.
I gather that if I want to move several galleries into a new sub-category, I need to do it one at a time?

Hi Sara,
I'm sorry that I didn't see this post earlier! You can move/edit settings for many galleries at once. To do this when in the gallery settings window at the top of the screen you'll see a "Multiple Galleries" button. Click on that and you'll be able to select many or even all of your galleries.
Check the setting or settings you'd like to change and you're all set.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, we are always happy to help.
Best Regards,
Christina
