Two of my favorite shots taken of the Komodo Dragon at the new MOOLA Exhibit, inside the Fort Worth Zoo, Fort Wort, Texas.

As usual, you can click on these for really big view, if you wish.

Truly amazing and awesome pictures. A little safer to get being in a zoo.

Yes very much so... I shot these through the thick, protective viewing glass. :D

Cool shots! Looks like some kind of prehistoric beast. Are they dangerous?

    VERY dangerous, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komodo_dragon

The main issue is their saliva has quite a lot of bacteria in it, so if they bite you, it'll almost for sure become infected in a short period of time if it's not treated, although it's possible captive komodo dragons may have cleaner saliva.

In the wild they usually make a few bites on large animals and follow their target for days, up to a week or more and just watch it slowly die from infection.

And they are one of the oldest reptile species known on our planet, so the prehistoric guess is probably not too far off.

I'm a pretty big fan of wildlife in general but I never want to meet one of these bad boys in the wild. Supremely nasty reputation. They are also very large, close to people size, so a shot with some perspective and sense of scale would be helpful here I think. Nice shot though.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Unfortunately that wasn't really possible, the only way to view these at the MOOLA exibit is through a glass, and with so many people crowding infront of it I either had to get up in there and shoot through it point-blank range (Dragon was right on the other side of it) or just photo people looking at the glass x,x

Really nice shots! Loving' #2. We were at the Fort Worth Zoo back in September and I think I took more than 100 shots in the MOLA alone! They did a great job with that facility!

Here's my little scrapbook page on that visit:
