Nice stuff, I'll expand on Diva's comment by adding that you should also try and watch your hot spots by metering off of them and balancing the lighting by making adjustments aperture and or ISO.

Thanks! My biggest problem here tends to be trying to find a happy medium. The red in a lot of these shots and the purple does not color correct well at all, it just obliterates any skin tone, it's my biggest pet peeve with our lighting designer. Had a lot of trouble with this show with hotspots, mainly because of that white suit the Count wears for most of the show, plus the deep shadows on his face. To try and get something where you could actually see his expression always ended up overloading someone else. Didn't help a lot of our lights were out of place for the photocall :(.

Definitely glad I stepped up to the 5Dmk2 for this show though! It was an incredibly dark show, I'd never have gotten such good results from my 40D.

And yes it IS water! I don't have a great picture where it's obvious but in that last photo there's about 3 feet more to the stage all around the curved edge that's water. I can't tell you how many time I nearly fell in scrambling around the stage.

The 5DMkII is a low light beast so you chose an appropriate body from Canon.
Truthfully what I do on theater shots is cheat a bit.
Shoot RAW, shoot underexposed and bump shadows and mid-tones in post. Once I find the right formula for a particular event I create a preset and apply it to the entire set of images.

I wouldn't worry too much about the hues from the lighting, it is what it is.....

I tried that, but I don't have enough cards to do it. I only have an 8gb and 4gb, ended up spending too much time dumping those cards and having actors wait around. Hopefully I can sell some prints in the future and afford some more cards haha.
