You requested comment notification emails, but if you've changed your mind, login and go to your SmugMug Control Panel. You'll find mail preferences in the Settings tab.

I don't think you can really prevent it but you can add comment moderation http://www.smugmug.com/help/photo-sharing-comments. I believe SM is working on improving comments in the future.

    Hi Rich,

Hoffmcs is right. The spammers have either hired a bunch of folks to enter those by hand, or they've figured out a way to slip past the captcha requirements. (I sure hope that's not the case!)

What you can do is delete those comments, or you can set your comments up for approval, so that they don't appear, unless you okay them. Be sure you check out the help link he provided.

At this point in time, the only other thing you can do is report them to their domain registrar as a spammer.

We do apologize, and try hard to protect you from that type of thing, but they persistent!

I have the same problem, they all come from the email adress 1d231@gmail.com

I don't know if it's related, but I noticed a strange visit in my google analytics results last week. The visitor is from Beijing and he reached my site using the keywords:

inurl:"photos" intext:"to foil spammers, enter this code" intext:"d"
    and
inurl:"photos" intext:"to foil spammers, enter this code" intext:"e"

When I search these on google, I only find Smugmug websites. I started receiving spam after that.

I just had one of these 'hand entered' spam comments from China this morning. It doesn't appear malicious, just a pest. "Suging.fang88" and similar are on Spam lists. I'll delete it later today.

Guys, it's super easy to turn on comment moderation in your control panel, stats tab. Then you can just delete those comments before they are posted.
