Does the Vivitar 285 have a "sleep" mode?

I rarely shoot with my 285, it's my backup's backup's backup. :D So, I decided to play with it tonight to see what it did vs the Sunpak 120J. After several minutes of not shooting, I took a few more shots and nothing. I tried several times thinking it was my new triggers giving me problems, but I checked the light and the status on the back wasn't flashing red/green as it always does when in standby mode. Turned it off and immediately back on and the light was alternating as it should.

Is there a standby mode on the 285? I don't see anything in the manual about one..

Not that I have ever encountered...did you buy it new?? if so the manual should mention this.....all of mine are old 285hv's (more than 10yrs old) and they did not sleep....if the red/greeen light stopped blinking it was dead batts.......but the current manufacturer might have built in a power save feature.

    Good Luck.

It's an older light.. Manual? What's that? Fresh batteries... so who knows, will have to play more. Just thought I'd make sure I wasn't missing the obvious
