Hey,
I seem to be having trouble with my Epson 4490. Every time I try to scan something it makes this extremely loud banging sound, which I believe is coming from

Does anybody have any ideas as to what's happening and how I can fix it?

Make sure that the transport lock is not set on.

Unplug the scanner and make sure that the scan carriage is in the home position before plugging it back in and turning it on.

I've already tried this. It looks like that piece is jammed.

I think you are looking at either repairs or replacement.

Any idea how those parts were broken?

No idea. It would probably be cheaper if I just bought a new scanner instead of paying for the repairs. I'll probably end up buying a V500 or V700. Thanks for your responses Ziggy.
