Hey DGrinners,

The time has come to let go of my first digital photography setup. The camera body, lenses, and accessories have been invaluable to me in realizing my passion for photography, and as the new owner of a 7D and 24-70L, I hope to find a new home for this gently used gear and save up for future gear purchases. Link to photos taken with the XSi, and, except for the first two images, with the lenses below: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ap_aperturephoto/sets/72157624793876270 . All the items have been well cared-for (some of them have never been used) and in original boxes with manuals and paperwork. This is the ultimate starter kit: a great body, lenses ranging from wide-angle to telephoto, and the famous fast 50 (for low-light), plus filters, extra batteries, and memory card.

Considering the excellent condition of the body, lenses, and accessories, and the fact that they come in-box with manuals and all, I am looking to sell for $850. If you would like to make another offer, I am open to trades or cash+trades for other Canon equipment, especially speedlites and WA primes, but open to many so throw something at me! I am in no hurry to sell, so lowballers will be ignored, as will scammers and requests to ship to Nigeria. As of right now, I will only sell this gear as a kit, because it is both difficult and time-consuming to sell items individually. Payment via PayPal, standard USPS shipping is free with purchase. I can also meet locally in the SF Bay Area.

The price I paid for each item is in parentheses () below. Overall, this gear cost approximately $1250.

Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS lens (I paid $275)

-Purchased in May 2009 at Best Buy in Emeryville, CA
-zoom range from 55mm (normal) to 250mm (telephoto) is very versatile, has a long reach for sports, wildlife

Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II (I paid $110)

-Purchased in September 2009 from Amazon
-50mm is the standard focal length, good for people shots, scenery, walkaround use
-f1.8 max aperture allows for shooting in very low light, gives excellent bokeh (background blur) to isolate subject
-small and light, easy to carry for extended periods

Opteka battery grip for Canon XSi (I paid $75)

-purchased from Adorama Camera in November 2009
-battery grip adds normal shutter button, click wheel, and zoom/autofocus select buttons to the camera when held in portrait orientation for easy vertical/portrait shooting
-tray holds two standard batteries, doubling the number of shots on one charge. Or, takes 6 AAs in other tray (included)
-In addition to original Canon battery (1000 mA), includes two Opteka batteries 1800mA (60% higher capacity)

58mm Filters for 18-55 and 55-250 lenses (I paid $40 for the pair)

-Purchased from Best Buy in October 2009
-circular polarizer limits the effect of glare and prevents against overexposure and flaring
-UV filter prolongs the life of the lens and camera by limiting exposure to harmful UV radiation
-each comes with clear plastic case for protection

SanDisk 8GB SD memory card (I paid $50)

-actually a microSD card I got for my phone, it has an SD adaptor and it's the only card I've ever used with the XSi
-holds at least 1200 images, usually I'm on the third battery by the time it's full.

Now, for the quirks of my gear: The battery grip does not detach from the camera...I must have tightened it too much. I'm sure it could be done but I haven't ever felt the need to take it off. The flash on the XSi does not pop up correctly, the mechanism isn't smooth, so it takes a little coaxing and then works great once raised. Finally, the charger for the three batteries included here no longer works. I borrowed a friend's charger to charge them before I sell this gear, so they should last at least 1800 shots combined, and in the meantime I will order a new charger shipped to you for free. I also rarely take the lenses off, so the body cap that covers the XSi mirror/mount is missing. I will order another one free of charge if you'd like.

Thanks for looking! Please PM or email me at aperture.photo@yahoo.com if interested or have questions.
