Fighting over a chick :-)

This is a couple of Gallinula chloropus fighting over a mate.

This is in order of how the fight took place.... the winner held the loser under water for a looooooong time....and the loser.... was in such a rush to get out of the scene he "walked on water" ;D

    Great action and detail. Almost looks like that bird is smiling when dunking the other. I've never seen this kind of bird. Where are they? I there a common name?

    Some refer to it as a Coot.

    That's a truly a amazing series, incredibly well captured. A very close relative of Gallinula chloropsis is a very common bird local to large parts of Australia. Our version is Gallinula tenebrosa, the common name for which is the Dusky Moorhen. Looks almost identical to the birds in this outstanding series.

    Great action series. My favorite is the escape photo though, he really booked it out of there - love those water splashes!
