I'm not very pleased with this shot because I couldn't get at a better angle or closer but I thought it was interesting none the less.

I like it too, too bad they blend in so well with their background, you don't see 3 of them together like that too often, must be mama or daddy with the kids. Maybe if you try darkening it a bit they might stand out better. Praying Mantis' are cool cause they move slowly & they really look like ALIENS!!! :yikes

That picture is wild, I could barely find the last one, if there wasnt a name for that picture i would have probably quickly glanced at it and just thought it was a picture of a plant, i guess i should examine picture better from now one. GREAT PICTURE !!!! clap.gif

Doesn't it just annoy the crap out of you when you see a great photo opportunity and no matter what you do you just can't get in the position you want to be, or get the bug to be in the position you'd like it to be ne_nau.gif

But you usually learn something..........always too late for the occassion but in time for the next one hopefully...... I discovered from Brian, that using the external flash and putting the camera into manual mode I can hand hold and still get great macros with even with extention tubes added.

Good try on your part......hope you find another willing subject soon.

Wow... I wonder if you'd have stuck around a while longer if you'd have been able to watch the female bite the head off the male while they were mating? :help
