I know I've entered a photo already, but caught my grand daughter outside today playing and looking at some flowers. Is this photo any good? I can always enter a better image. :)

The main problem here is that YOU STOLE OUR WEATHER!

It's been 50 degrees and rainy here in the Bay Area. Oklahoma is supposed to be in winter, fer cryin' out loud! That kid has short sleeves on!

    :D

ROFLaughing.gif!! If you haven't got over a foot of snow, then it's someone elses weather you're having. hahaha Last week it was below zero here! We had 14 inches of snow on the ground, too. It all melted by tuesday of this week and the temps have been in the 70's.. but today it got up to 80 for a couple of hours. I bought that dress today at a 2nd hand shop where I can get like new kids clothes and she wanted to go outside and look at the flowers. :D

Do you think the photo is good enough to enter, or is it more an average snapshot?

It's cute, and I like the processing. But I think I'd stick with your roses.

That said, I haven't gotten anything myself to enter yet.ne_nau.gif

I haven't changed my entry from the Roses .. I was hoping I'd get a better photo of my granddaughter. I've seen other similar photos of kids with similar processing and I was trying to acheive they same thing other people get. What about this photo that makes it not good enough to enter, or how could I crop it or process it to make it *amazing*? :)

If I knew that, I'd be a famous photographer! :D

I really try to take a lot of pictures of kids -- click on the link in my sig to see some -- and about the best I can offer is: take a zillion pictures, and hope you get something good.

Try to learn a little about the "rules of composition." You can find some rules here: http://www.galitz.co.il/en/articles/composition.shtml and some ways to break them here: http://www.goshen.edu/art/ed/percy1.html. But you can find a lot of similar things on the web, too, or in real books if you prefer those.

It's so hard to capture the right composition with the right expression when they are looking the right direction. Going digital has really changed it for me, because I'll go out and shoot 200 pictures at the playground. I feel like I've gotten a lot better over the last 2 years by the old standby: practice practice practice.

Your granddaughter is adorable. You'll end up with some amazing ones soon enough. thumb.gif
