Kept a couple of these from last summer and took some photos whilst it was raining yesterday morning. Taken using a 500W security halogen light source, colour corrected to 3200.C and focus stacked with zerene stacker.

Linda, in TX you'd probably say that this critter shed it's skin. This is the dragonfly's old 'skin'.

Senorjax - this 3-D does seem to work well and that does make it easier to view.
You seem to be correct re the pink - I just have a pad of coloured A4 papers I sometimes use as backgrounds for setup shots like this.
