It's still early, but I've been watching CNN for 2 hours. It's crazy that while almost everyone evacuated the gulf coast, a slew of CNN reporters are stationed at various land points reporting outside in the wind and rain ... They must really love their job.

My wife and I, watched to see what was happening in Galveston, as we vacationed there a mere 5 weeks ago and she fell in love with the old Strand district in the historic downtown area. We saw a simple headline report that a building and 2 historic homes had already been destroyed by a raging fire. A short time later, the CNN reporter gave unconfirmed reports that a building had collapsed near 19th Street and the warf. This was very near to a very quaint restaurant that she especially liked. We sat on the patio and ate, while we watched a couple play chess and a painter spraypainting for a crowd.

The CNN reporter just confirmed that Yaga's has collapsed.

No reports of casualties here. It's mostly brick, so hopefully they can rebuild.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the people on the gulf coast right now.

are you serious!?!?! yaga's collapsed? that's terrible. i used to live down in friendswood, about a half hour drive from galveston. i loved that place. it's such a shame that it's being attacked by mother nature. thanks for news. even though it wasn't happy news.

My brother Tim and his wife, and soon to be child (She's due in a week about) live in Galveston. I'm glad their house is okay at least. I feel bad that a lot of the stuff there is damaged and destroyed though. :(
