Which one has shorter recycle time? The mecablitz 58 AF-2 or the Canon 580ex II?
I would like to use the flash for wedding photography.

The Canon 580EX (original), with an external high-voltage power supply, will yield around 2 second recycle times from full pop. With more typical ISO camera settings I can get nearly instantaneous recycling, like for candids, etc.

I have no experience with the Mecablitz.

Here are the published specifications for both:
    • Canon 580 EX II - fresh alkaline batteries - up to 6 seconds.
    • mecablitz 58 AF-2 - fresh alkaline batteries - up to 5 seconds.

Both flashes have protection against overheating and both will suffer with prolonged use of full output, leading to early failure of the unit.
