For the first 5 days of this challenge I thought this was a crazy topic....and then my thinking cap kicked in and I have a dozen ideas, not all of which are doable... But---

Took an afternoon wander around the river today...

There are many more, but DH wants me to watch a movie so off I go....

Ok, I have added a few more shots...

Pounding the concrete....1202129718_TzJaX-M.jpg

Three bridges...

Unnamed...

Which should I be paying attention to?
Thanks for your advice...

The Train Don't go there no more...

I had a DUH moment today. I have settled on a year long exploration of this part of the Appomattox River. I went down today (first time since the CONCRETE idea was discussed.) All the ideas and thoughts aside, HOW could I have forgotten THIS?? So, now I have five choices!!!

Nice lines! I really like this.

I'm going to play with an idea next weekend. Urban Jungle stuff. I want to try and capture something with drama and lots of contrast, something PJ/Street.

Thanks, Indie girl....yes, the concrete jungle would be one of the ideas I would play around with, but I "think" I have enough floating in my head! ( Grab some feet pounding the pavement while you are at it!)

i'm liking the three bridges (great tones on the rocks, and the water is just beautiful), but my favorite is your first one. somehow all the others feel like there's too much going on.

I like the reflection in the first shot and the bridges in the background, but I think I prefer the three bridges - the contrasts between them (love the old pillars - lots of character) with the trees in the background, just not sure if the crop is working for me. I kinda think the brick building in the background is a little distracting, or maybe it's too busy. You might try cropping some off the left & maybe bottom. I posted this link on the last thread too (hope that's okay!) - http://photoinf.com/Golden_Mean/photo-adjuster.html - I've been using it to play with crops to see what works better.

    bumping up...
Hmmm....I added a shot last night, via EDIT function---didn't realize it wouldn't bump up so anyone would notice!!rolleyes1.gif

Anyway...I have these images. I intend to fuss about with some textures and color shifts, you know, play, when I get home tonight.

WHICH image should I be putting the most effort into, in your humble opinion?

    THANKS!!!

I vote for the first one -- reflection bridge.
The goal of my photography is is the effective, original communication of a feeling expressing truth, beauty, or love.

Well, I like the first reflection bridge, three bridges, and the last one you posted. Hard to say which I like best. I like all three. I'm sort of envious that you have 3 to choose from, actually.mwink.gif

I think I'd lean more toward Three Bridges because I love the colors in it. I agree with lkbart that the red building in the background is a little distracting, but it doesn't bother me that much. The first one is nice, too, though.

Sorry, I wasn't much help here! Congrats on finding several great subjects.

I am rather partial to the first one. I like the lines, the color/tone of that shot.

That Train Don't Stop There No More...1207281018_MygLt-M.jpg

or, Three Bridges.... I do have a version where I have lightened the building in the background, but I didn't like any of the other editing I did...

By the time I get home from work, I NEED to decide!!!!

    Help!!!!

The processing on first one (in the last post) mutes the colors too much. To me, this was its most appealing feature.

I like the composition in That Train and the reflection in the water.

I like the colors in the old stone in Three Bridges.

Overall, I think That Train is the strongest.

Whoops! I see when I uploaded that the titles didn't connect properly. That Train is the first, (+*the old train trestles are just huge monoliths in the landscape)....the second I haven't named....and that seems to be the run-away favorite so far....

    Thanks all!!

i really like #1 and #2--it's almost a tie for me. While I really dig the processing in shot #1 the "framing" might get you dq'd and I think the framing works nicely with that shot.
