I've been trying to find something concrete with character to photograph. Here is my first try. I've looked at it too much and need help.
Should I crop it differently, or should I try something else?

thanks..... (the title isn't set in stone... <smile>) LOL

Cracked with character ...

"</smile>Cracked with character ..." for sure, I see more than one character lurking in that concrete! <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" >

I wish I had good advise for you, but I don't. To me, the cracks are somewhat interesting, but the image itself is lacking...something. Maybe it's just me, but I'm having a hard time with this challenge. Pictures of concrete (mine included) are just kind of boring to me. We need something to jazz it up or find a unique angle or find some unique processing or something.

My only suggestion is to keep playing with those cracks to see if you can get a different perspective on it or maybe play with different crops. ?? I dunno...sorry for not being much help.

I've got nothing! Laughing.gif All the concrete I see has nothing interesting about it. Thus far, this is the best I can do unless something just suddenly jumps out at me.

I like the concept - an abstract image of concrete. I think the cracks are too horizontal. Try making the primary lines diagonal in the frame. Also, the bottom half is mostly negative space. Maybe try getting closer to the lines. Maybe try throwing some water on it. With my Dad N Bunky series, I found that the lines stood out more when they were still wet and the surface of the concrete was dry.

And you might play with it in post - up the contrast. Play with the sharpness. I find that if I make the radius less than a half pixel, the thershold less than 5, and boost the percentage up past 250%, I can achieve interesting effects. This is in Photoshop Elements - Unsharp Mask.
