Hello,

I have never entered a challenge and thought it would be fun. :)

Took this image while walking with my wife over this weekend. We were walking near a local creek and the trail heads under a train track. At the base is a concrete wall which has been repainted many times, as seen by the amount of paint flakes on the ground. It was actually pretty interesting as there was so much detail in the photo. I just took one shot in landscape and another in vertical, then walked home.

The photo doesn't look so interesting in color but after processing it for black and white the harsh flakes stand out. It's just a very texture friendly wall to take photos of.

Basic tilt adjustments in LightRoom3, then majority of the editing with Nik Software tools.

Great texture! I'd think about bringing it down a bit on the bright part of the wall and increasing the contrast some there to bring it out even further.
The goal of my photography is is the effective, original communication of a feeling expressing truth, beauty, or love.

Thanks, I had a hard time with the center part. If I lowered the brightness, then I would loose some of the details. I also increased the contrast and used a red filter simulation during the black and white conversion.

Nice comp and good choice in the B&W conversion. I like this shot. In regards to darkening the central part, you might be able to apply the graduated filter or the adjustment brush just a smidge to add more definition and draw the eye back toward the foreground. But the photo looks pretty good as is.

This is nice, but I, too would like it to be a bit darker....
