Pigeon Hawk

This little Hawk a Pigeon Hawk I believe tried to get a meal at the bird feeder. This is actually a member of the falcon family. No meal today about three weeks ago he snagged a squirrel.

    Are sure this is a Merlin? Wide tail bands, no mustache indicate an Accipiter
    probably a Cooper's or Sharpie.

    You have a point there could be a Cooper's or Sharpie difficult to tell very similar. My guess would be the Coppers.
