Ann very nice shot as usual. Can you share what processing you did on the image? I have been trying to capture some of the same ideas but the snow has melted already.

Hi! Thanks! Lightroom history says that I did the following things (I mostly just play until I like the result!).
Cropped
Set WB
bumped Exposure
Bumped clarity
Convert to B&W
Increased black clipping value
Increased exposure again
Chose strong contrast in the tone curve setting
Fiddled with the shadow (decreased) and highlights (increased) in the tone curve setting
Then I added a post crop vignette as a preset, and then manipulated those values. I actually think the vignette made a huge difference to this shot.
Then I bumped both blacks and exposure again.
Final values Temp 6432, tone +21
Exposure +1.2
Blacks 32
Clarity +45
Tone curve strong contrast, Highlights +29, shadows -31
Vignette amount -34, midpoint 65, feather 50
With our current long term weather forecast, we will have snow on the ground in May, so if you want to practice snow shots, come on by!

Nice to know I am not the only one who is just playing at times. Now in terms of visits, as other DGrinners can warn you - you never know when I might show up.

An alternate title that crossed my mind was
"slats" - kind of reminds me of the shadow from a set of venetian blinds
or, perhaps, "laces" as in the laces of an undone corset....
but then maybe I just need to get out more! ;-)

I'm all for simplicity. Love the soft light and long shadows.
