I'm a recent smugmug user, and have been enjoying this forum and the beautiful photos posted here for a while. I thought I'd finally post a couple photos myself, instead of just browsing.

These are Harlequin ducks that enjoy a rocky outcrop on the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey for the winter, We love having them visit!

Welcome to Dgrin and the Wildlife Forum wave.gif. Those are very colorful subjects, wish we had them down here in FL>.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Harry, many thanks for the kind welcome! These and other colorful ducks almost make up for the freezing winters up here...hardly. :) I'm really looking forward to the return of ospreys and egrets vacationing in Florida! (p.s. thanks for all the wonderful tips in the 'sticky' posts! They've been very helpful!)

I love the first shot because of the great view of the duck's head and colorful breast. Keep posting! Best, Pam

They are on my list too. But will probably have to get the west coast version. Heard they hang out up around Seattle

Hi Chris! A Canadian conservation site says that the western Harlequins will winter as far south as central California. Best wishes for a sighting soon! Cheers, pear

Yes I have heard that too but they tend to hang towards the coast. I will keep an eye out. Hope to be visiting family in Nova Scotia this October that could be a chance also, doubt they will give me much chance to go chase birds though.
