My son was kind enough to pose for me again.
Looking for any tips on posing, lighting, processing.
Thanks

Good lighting and lighting pattern but get more light into the eyes. You've given him whats called "racoon eyes". Bring you main light a little lower to get better catch lights in the eyes. Your eyes are the "Windows to the Soul". If you were to have this print judged they would say the background is way too busy and takes attention off the subject.

Nice shot, You could probably crop the bottom to just above where the string tighteners on the guitar are.
    Good looking young man.

Thanks for the comments. I thought that too about the eyes being too dark. I played around a little with the dodge brush to try to lighten them up a bit, but I just couldn't get it to look right. So I left them dark. I guess I should have experimented a little more. My lights were actually set up trying to get a different shot altogether. As usual it seems my favorite pic was the one I wasn't trying for.

Thanks again I will keep working at it.

Does this seem better. I always think I either do too much or not enough. These old eyes of mine make it hard to tell.

Its the catch lights in the eyes that bring an image to life. They are there but barely.

One more try at this. I tried to bring up the catchlights also lighten the eyes and the the area around them.
Does this look better or did I go to far?

Nice job - maybe a tad too far with the eyes, they seem too bright in relation to the rest of the face - a little more heat on the guitar would have bounced some light back up into his eyes and given a cool reflection.

Also, could be a bit sharper and the hands look a little too hot. Good job with shaping the shadows on the face and nice separation from the background.
