Re-naming the file number?

Is there an "easy" way to change (re-name) the uploaded file number? I tried to use the 'Tools>Replace' on one of my photos. I uploaded the same picture, but a different file number, and it kept the old file number. Then I tried it again, but uploaded a different photo/file name and it worked. I then Replaced it back to the original photo and new file number and that worked. Confused yet?

I really don't want to change it twice for each picture. Help?

Hey Mike,

There is no way to change a filename without replacing the actual file with a modified file. If the filename is the only thing that has changed then it will not update. The filesize needs to be different to update the file. Otherwise we see it as the same file.

Thanks Nick. I removed some of the extra metadata stuff (in Bridge) in the original file and changed the file size, without changing the quality.
