Related Keyword & Combine With

Does anyone know why the "Related Keywords" & "Combine With" function is only available on Keyword galleries if they are viewed in the SmugMug style? (See Gotcha on http://www.smugmug.com/help/keywords-tags.)

All of my galleries are set to Thumbnail style, and I used to force Keyword galleries to Thumbnails too (one of jfriend's cust's). I wish I didn't have to introduce a viewstyle inconsistency to take advantage of this useful keywording function. Any configuration/customization option that I'm overlooking?
