Florida besides it beaches and theme parks is also known for corrupt politics. Our new gov has made some budget proposals that have caused a bit of a stir

Its always wise with Florida protests to find out when the sprinklers are scheduled to come on

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

My guess would be not timing but a well paid Government employee took time away from their 3 hr lunch to waste some water at others expense. Butt photo 3 tells a great story ,name calling and they did not miss lunch. I do think that corrupt politician is now one wordheadscratch.gif

Thanks Jeff. Its an amazing thing about those sprinklers, they have been coming on at the same time, on the same day of the week for the past year. Also this is Florida and no worker gets highly paid be they private or public. The only time I got a 3 hour lunch break was when I worked in the private sector.

The dude in #3 just had surgery for his weight problem. He's a opinion columnist in the local papers, does numerous local radio shows, is an excellent web site designer and during his race for the state assembly garnered the endorsement of the local right wing talk show host. He's brilliant, eloquent, and a very nice person.

There was name calling on both sides, some of it was even directed at me.

Really great job Harry, photographically showing both sides of this particular dispute. Nice!

I appreciate seeing photos from proponents of both sides.

    Thanks for sharing these.

Thanks Dan, if I mod another forum they will have to double my pay. Lets see, 2 times zero comes out to how much?

It was good to get back to my roots and do some street work.

Thanks B.D. both sides provided good ops, the Tea Party folks were easier because there were a lot less of them so I was able to isolate my subjects easier with them.

Wonderful set! You have captured the tone of the demonstrations well. The first sprinkler shot is a crack-up as I imagine the protester trying to maintain his cool while looking like a fool...

Nice change of pace from the bird stuff.

Protesters protest in order to be seen and heard. Why they would then get nasty with a photographer who is assisting them with getting their message out is beyond me.

On a side note I will wager I know which side directed the name calling at you. :D

Thanks Sam, it was a great change of pace. I started out doing mostly street photography in NYC until I moved to FL so this was getting back to my roots.

The Tea Party folks remind me a lot of the anti-war protesters of the 60's & 70's. When I shot pictures of the demos in the 70's I ran into folks who thought I was undercover for the "pigs". A number of the Tea Party folks asked me who I was shooting for and were a tad paranoid.

The guy standing by the sprinklers was convinced that I had them turned on and was a tad irate. He said I turned them on because I was afraid to intelligently debate him. He then called me an asshole. rolleyes1.gif

Though I like your "bird stuff" :) I also like your street work when you post, which you rarely do.

This is a wonderful documentary series.
While I have some favorites, I enjoyed the entire set--some of those signs had me rolling.
I like your conversion of the shots as well.

The dude in the sprinkler was the one who got mad at me and called me names. He didn't maintain his "cool" all that well. :D

Thanks Liz. I had people to capture in NYC so I did people. In Florida I have birds.

I used Nik's Silver Efex for the conversions.
