But wanted to post this one on its own.

Thanks Damon--I thought about cropping it out (for about 2 seconds) and decided I liked it, I like that it's turned towards the woman and her child, you can tell he's looking at them.

I'm just fascinated that someone is actually using PEN and PAPER to write something from a BOOK. I guess they didn't get the memo. :D

It's a woman and her son begging for money--not something I see everyday, specially a well dressed woman. Not a "typical" beggar, but maybe someone who has recently fallen on hard times and has little choice. Also I thought about B.D.s "no bums" rule, but I don't think this qualifies as that, just waiting to hear more input.

simpsonbrothers-I've read this a few times, but it went very much over my head.
I don't get it, please explain.

Just amazed that the person on the far right isn't using a computer/ipad/notebook. Always cracks me up to see people that aren't caught up with technology.

    ah--that makes sense--thank you.
I recently took a couple of shots of three people sitting side by side all reading books--it made me happy. I really dislike the ereaders.

I'm guessing that's a student. Public schools here haven't gone digital, it's still books and notebooks for most kids.

Love the hat in the foreground - but...Imagine if you had managed to shoot it a bit more from our left, so that a., her sign would be more prominent and easier to read, and it would be more obviously juxtaposed with the "free checking" ad behind her....just sayin' ... :D

    I know!!
Truth be told my hand just barely wavered over the "shutter" button, which is really just part of the touch screen and it "clicked" just about 1.5 seconds before I wanted to take the shot. I was going to brace myself against the door to steady myself, the train was moving, but the camera got away from me. Then by the time the imagine cycled, got saved and was ready to shoot again, they were already past me. Still I liked it enough to post, but I definately see the weaknesses.

Good image that captures a NYC subway moment. It does invoke memories of the subway and the various panhandlers I encountered.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Nevertheless, it is a very good capture. There is much to look at, differing from many people staring or looking bored type shots.
