This is the sharpest mid-range telephoto in the Canon L Lens lineup. Reported to be sharper than the f/2.8 version
It has the USM focus motor for instant and silent focussing and the lens focuses and zooms internally so it does not change length while zooming or focussing
Also this lens has the fixed maximum aperture of f/4 throughout the zoom range and the image stabilizer for extra sharp hand-held shots
Works perfectly on crop bodies or full frame bodies, lighter and smaller than the f/2.8 version, easier to handle. Excellent portrait lens
