The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist, but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking. - Brook Atkinson- 1951
Love this--I really dig the extreme contrast.
I do have to wonder what it would look like with less contrast so we can see the one kid's facial expression.
Nonetheless, I love the shot as is.
Thanks for the comments everyone. The shot was taken into the sun and very high contrast to start with so I couldn't rescue any detail on the faces. I just bumped up the brightness and contrast further to give it a more dramatic look.
Virginia, thanks for the observation. Fortunately the original does have a bit more 'headroom' and I agree it would look a more balanced if I used it.

Details in faces are highly over-rated :-)
Sometimes, just a hint of an open, gleeful mouth is enough. The shapes tell the whole story, nothing else needed.

I wish for just a tad more space at the top, but that is nitpicking. It is a wall hanger as is.
