I had to look really hard to pick out the details, but the overall feel of urban grit comes through well.

I used a cellphone app and it makes it much darker than I would normally use. This is after some pp to lessen the contrast and brightening some.
I liked the grit, I had to give it a go.
    Thanks Richard.

Really like this one (minus the title) as it still confuses me on repeat showing. I am puzzled by the people in the upper right. For one, it looks like a doll or dummy in his lap. And it looks like they are in a subway car, but there is a snack bar to the left. My head spins on...

I think some of the people in the upper right corner are part of a poster in the train station with a real woman walking by.
The snack bar is the token booth:)

Wow, you are a true New Yorker if you still call them token booths. It seems like forever since they stopped using tokens, but yes, it's easier to refer to them as token booths even if they don't sell tokens anymore. :D

Would have no freaking idea who or what they were without your title. Sorry.

:DI don't know what else to call them.
    These are the options
    1. metro card booths
    2. unmaned booths due to budget cuts.
    3. attitude booths;)

    ok--so here is the question.
What makes a shot a WTF shot?

This shot is contrived granted, using a cell phone app that makes things look darker and feel more menacing, so I brightened it a bit, but I knew what i was going for. Ok so I failed--but why does ambiguous sometimes work and sometimes not?

Fair question. Ambiguous is good; 'I have no idea what this is' is not. The problem here is not ambiguity, it's that it's not clear what it is an ambiguous photograph OF. :ivar

And yet I love it. No idea what's going on - intriguing . Perhaps some day you'll come up with a title that make it a winner for everyone. But until then I like it anyway. Great processing to match the ambiance.
