Hi Folks,

I was at Donington Park this weekend for the British Superbikes. Fyi, there was one point between no 6 Kiyonari and no 36 Lavilla at the start of the meeting.

Lavilla won both races and celebrated in style:

Leon Haslam outbraked Kiyonari at the Melbourne Loop:

Kieran Clarke went bodysurfing:

Dean Thomas has an extreme cornering style:

Lavilla leads Kiyonari in race one:

Wow! Nice pop to these. Great action and I'm with Gus on the lean angle.
    Awesome!

Now if I could only get over that far, I'd feel I was getting my money's
    worth from the tires :D

    Great
Hate to be redundant, but those last 3 shots going into the turn are great.
What lens and how far away were you from the corner?

    Hi Gary,

I had a great time at the races, I was there for Saturday and Sunday. I had far too much to drink on Saturday night in Redgate bar, not a good idea the next day with noisy smelly motorbikes all around merolleyes1.gif .

I saw John Mc on Sunday, he is riding for ten kate.

    Gus, Ian & Steve,

These were taken at the Melbourne Loop, a relatively slow 180 bend. The riders really lay the bike on the side going around it. I really pushed the contrast and saturation to try and bring out the colours of the leathers and helmets.

    Steve, I was using a 20d and a 400 5.6L at the melbourne loop,

This is Ben Wilson nearly scraping the fairing :uhoh

Nice work Seamus. I really like the Lavilla shot with the guy behind him!

    Got any more?

Thanks Andrew, I didn't move from the melbourne loop so the pics are repetitive, the supersports race was wet and gave a couple of different pics:

Leon Camier is the championship leader and had a problem with his bike early on in the race. You can see the steam on the screen of the bike, the bike was overheating for the race. He rode a superb race and finished in the points to maintain his lead in the championship.

The spanish riders had a good day. Pere Riba won the supersports race with an immaculate riding display in the wet.

    Hi Shay,
What a wonderful series. I've never been to a superbike race, but it looks like a lot of fun. I can now appreciate the difficulty of getting these shots. Do you prefocus on a particular spot on the track and wait for the action to come to it or do you focus and shoot? Just wondering.

Thanks for sharing some wonderful action shots,
    Chris

A picture is but words to the eyes.
    Comments are always welcome.

    Hey Chris,

I'm glad you enjoyed the series. I am far from an expert but this is what I did. I had a good view of the bikes as they came down the hill before they peeled into the loop. I was able to start tracking them and let off a burst of two or three frames as they were at maximum lean.

    I hope this helps,

    Shay

I can't get that far over on a dry track let alone a wet track! Good photos!

I would crash if I tried to lean that far over. Slick, rain tyres, it wouldn't stop me getting hurtrolleyes1.gif .
