Last week while visiting Florida I was driving through the Ocala National Forest when I came upon an RV Campground. I had enjoyed the trip so much I was looking for a place to rent next winter and so stopped to investigate. I took my D700 which at the time had a 70-200 f/2.8 VR Nikkor lens on it. (the 300mm with TC1.4 was left in the car :rolleyes)
After a bit of walking around, I saw a group of perhaps 12-15 Sandhills foraging at the shore of a small lake. Keeping a tree between us, I managed to get within 15 feet of this pair. After taking quite a few shot, they spooked and began running which I captured. When they took off I instinctively swung the camera up in the air and fired off one shot which resulted in probably the best BIF I've ever managed (which may not be saying much). The odds of getting a decent shot were not helped by the fact that AF was set on single point focus! That I managed at all is probably due to 25 years of competitive Trap shooting
1. On your mark, get set
2. Go!
3. They're Off

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
