I noticed this http://www.evisionphotos.com/Airsoft/Ash-Bash-IV/16202583_kBv7L#1217066717_tEsTZ
Is it being automatically censored? If so, how can I turn this off, I am highly against this kind of censorship.

Yes, we do not allow foul language in photo comments, I'm sorry.

Why? It's not like you're my mommy or daddy. And I can still delete them if they're really offending.

It reflects on SmugMug as host in a negative way, glad to see it

I don't buy that.
Is Smugmug the ones cussing in the comments? No, am I? No, do I associate the comments with Smugmug? Of course not!
Am I a big boy that can judge for myself if something is offending and wrong and moderate the comments myself? Yes.
Is it illegal to say words like, "***", "***", "**** "***"? NO!
If it's seriously offended then you don't have to read them do you.
Before you know it other legitimate words like, "cracker" , "Jesus", "butt" will be censored too.
I have photos with people that have patches on their uniforms with words like, "***" , "***" , "Jew".. Should I be afraid that these photos will be taken down now?
I know, someone is going to say something like, " Well, if you don't like, then leave."
These words are part of our English language, they have completely legitimate definitions, and they are NOT only subjected to derogatory meanings.
We don't allow those words, not on SmugMug or on Dgrin. I'm sorry.

I've gotta say, I'm very glad that SmugMug cares about this & keeps the trash-talk to a real minimum in this way. I completely agree with Andy that it simply doesn't reflect well on the site if viewers are faced with a bunch of disgusting language, no matter who put it there-- commenters, site owners, or DGrin post-ers. There are plenty of alternative ways to express stuff, and there are also plenty of alternative places (online of course as well) to spew whatever language one wants. It's no secret that certain sites are considered extremely trashy, and it's generally because of the language. This is a site that plenty of youngsters look at too, & sure, you can't constantly protect them from every bit of foul-ness, but you can at least put your best foot forward.
So I applaud this site for upholding a certain standard of excellence in all areas including this one. I like seeing stuff on YouTube, but the comments on there become extraordinarily vulgar in a short amount of time, after which any kind of mature discourse becomes impossible... yet there are millions of kids looking at it. It appalls me that very little gets censored on there. Even my 17-yr. old son was complaining just yesterday how ugly it gets, and what that does to its reputation. A family-owned site like this has every reason and every right to uphold standards, just like all kinds of other public places and forums do. It's a myth that anyone has the right to say absolutely anything they want anywhere, and thank goodness it's a myth. It's not like we're on a very short leash here, & it shouldn't really be that hard to just save the trash-talk for a more appropriate place. Just because something's not absolutely illegal doesn't mean it's allowed everywhere. Even TV & radio have a few standards left too, ya know?

This is very problematic, because "bad" words in one area can be completely normal in other areas. For example, I would regard the 4-letter "excrement" word as being relatively low-level in the UK. However, you obviously regard it so problematic that it requires censoring.
