In a reply below, Ed911 asked why the bg was so noisy. If you look at the images, there is a large whitish spot in the bg behind the subjects hairpiece at about 11 o'clock. The object of this post was to emphasize the hair spines and the price paid was a bit of noise in the bg. The second image shows what happened when I significantly reduced the noise...the result was a loss of detail in the hair particularly in that 11 o'clock position.

Bravo!! Terrific shot. clap.gif The technical aspects were handled very well, particularly the DOF control. If I remember right, this one was shot through a glass wall.....not always an easy thing to do.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Nice shot...just one question...why is it so noisy?
Remember, no one may want you to take pictures, but they all want to see them.

    Thanks Tom
As Ed points out below, the background is a bit noisy. Had a loss of sharpness in the headpiece when I tried to reduce it.You are right about the glass but with a long enough lens and the subject far enough behind it, the camera doesn't see the glass. Kind of like shooting through a chain link fence. Going to try another technique.

Sharpening it increased bg noise and i was unable to reduce the noise without losing sharpness in the spines. I think I have it licked now though and will post the result soon.
