Technique to create a sunburst effect?

I am hoping that someone is able to help me. A little while ago I saw a technique for getting a sunburst effect by placing the sun on the edge of a building, tree or similar.
The effect was created with certain camera settings and I can't for the life of me find it again.
I am firstly hoping that there will be someone who understands what I am talking about , and secondly may be able to explain the technique. I am looking for the effect where the sun will have identifiable "lines" radiating from it, not the general flare effect of shooting into the sun.
With thanks
